• Identity System: Paul Perea and the Witches of Arroyo

If you like your novels with paranormal infused chills, we recommend the Witches of Arroyo trilogy from Paul Perea, our latest brand identity system project. Paul is a Minnesota-based author who writes novels inspired by the lore of his native New Mexico. the first novel in his Witches of Arroyo trilogy, The First Circle, is available from Amazon.com. Birch + Wolf developed a set of personal logos for Paul to use on his soon to be updated website and in future marketing efforts. We also developed a logo for the trilogy with a three-feathered circle. The number three is symbolic of several elements of Paul’s storyline and holds mythical importance…

  • Birch + Wolf Brand Babble: Red, White, and Blue

We have plenty of thoughts about brands, so why not share. Inspired by the 4th of July, we discussed red, white, and blue visual identities. In this first edition of Birch + Wolf Brand Babble, Ben and I each pick four brand identities effectively using the colors of the U.S.A. and France too(!) as you’ll see from our choices. Without further ado, let’s get to the picks. Ben’s Pick #1: Montreal Alouettes (Canadian Football League) Red, white, and blue are associated with both France and the U.S. on a global scale. Design highlights include: The logo takes on the shape of a badge typically worn by paramedics. The introduction of the PSOW acronym absent from the old logo. Making Wisconsin a…

  • A Blooming Identity for Aspire CPA

We thoroughly enjoyed getting to work on the brand identity for Aspire CPA LLC, a new firm focused on small businesses in Sun Prairie, WI. With the client’s vision for supporting small businesses, we saw a great opportunity to develop an identity that stands out from the crowd. That, and a chance to demonstrate accounting brands don’t have to be boring. The inspiration for the logo icon is the bloom of a papyrus plant. Papyrus both pays homage to the long history of the accounting profession and reflects the idea of growth and vitality. The icon itself serves a dual purpose. At first glance, it takes the form of a…
